(2) The Database Interface Tools license provides functionality for your choice of one of the available commercial databases currently supported by the product:

Microsoft SQL Server
-
Oracle
-
IBM DB2
In addition to the APLNext license for the Database Interface Tools, you must obtain the appropriate license(s) from the vendor of the your selected commercial database.
(3) A client access license (CAL) is used to provide an end-user access to an application system or component developed with the Database Interface Tools. One CAL is required for each end-user of an application system or component developed with the Database Interface Tools.
The desktop license provides one CAL for the developer, who is deemed to be the end-user. This CAL applies to the single-user computer on which the licensed developer version of the Database Interface Tools software has been installed.
The professional license provides an unlimited number of CALs for end-users who are employees, leased employees or full-time consultants, of the immediate business entity that obtained the Database Interface Tools license, in the country for which the professional license was obtained.
The enterprise license applies to those busines entities which

Develop application systems or components which are licensed to the general public

Maintain time-sharing application systems which are licensed to the general public

Operate a service bureau which provides services to the general public
The enterprise license cost is determined in consultation with the licensee and considers the anticipated transaction throughput and potential strategic nature of the software product or services which are developed with the Database Interface Tools.
